The stiffening bushes are a great way to prevent axles (particularly softer axles) from crushing and becoming out of round when tightening grub screws, thus making it difficult to remove the axle from the kart.
Simply slide the nylon bush into the end of the axle and align with the screw position, then tighten grub screws to fix bush into position. Suits all 50mm axles.
