An awesome world-class karting complex is under construction in New Zealand.
The “Colin Dale Park International Raceway” near Auckland will be a multi-layout facility with a 1.27km CIK-FIA spec track.
Ground was broken on the site early last year, the local council clearing and preparing the location ready for track works to commence.
The base and much of the kerbing is now in place. The venue’s first club day is expected to be held around April or May next year.

The complex will be a new home for the Mt Wellington club. Previously NZ’s biggest club, Kartsport Mt Wellington has been without a track since October 2018 when its lease with Council expired.
The Colin Dale facility has been designed in New Zealand by some of the country’s leading karters and Academy Coaches, with considerable technical input from Vaughan Crang (Crang Civil Consulting) to meet the latest international CIK-FIA Circuit Regulations and the KartSport New Zealand Sprint Complex Rating Code.

The track is wide and boasts seven configurations (yes, seven! Scroll down for the track maps).
The Start/Finish straight, turn one, the next straight and turn two are all 10m wide. The rest of the circuit is 9m wide.

The Colin Dale KartSport Development Charitable Trust signed a Community Lease with the Auckland Council for the site off Prices Road, Mangere, Auckland. As a condition of the lease with Council, part of the area has been sub-let to the Auckland Radio Control Car Club which will have a 1/8th scale off road clay track, 1/10th astro track and eventually a 1/8 on road tarmac track.

Excerpts from the Colin Dale Park Kartsport Development Charitable Trust Project Overview (April 2021)
The Colin Dale Park KartSport Development Charitable Trust was formed by KartSport Mt Wellington Inc as the vehicle to establish, develop, manage and promote an off road recreational and leisure time public facility for amateur “wheeled” pastimes at Colin Dale Park in Manukau, New Zealand.
The primary role of the Trust is to establish the track and once operational to manage and govern the facility for the betterment of all its user communities as defined in its deed of establishment. The reason a trust was chosen as the vehicle for this lies with the fact that the costs to create and operate a facility of the type required to meet international standards and the needs of a wide community of users is beyond the reach of a single club or sporting code.
Accordingly, the Trust intends to draw members from its user community and from those organisations who are able to contribute to the establishment, operation and governance of the facility. Notwithstanding that, the Trust will ensure access to the facility is available to multiple sporting codes and other organisations who want to use it even if they are not currently represented on the governing body.
The Trust is affiliated to KartSport New Zealand, the governing body for KartSport in New Zealand.
The estimated establishment cost of the project: $6,500,000 (NZ$, in 2021).

Absolutely awesome idea. Just hope that access is going to be good for superannuants like myself that cannot walk too far. Best wishes for the future.
Looks amazing, great work so far!
I’m just concerned that you will not have enough car spaces for competitors’ vehicles and trailers plus those that come along to watch as spectators. Hopefully to do! 🙂
Otherwise, can’t wait to see it completed!
