Gippsland Go Kart Club celebrated Life Member Graeme Monds across the weekend, with the first ever running and awarding of the Graeme Monds Memorial Trophy.
The top three in all classes received prize money and gold cup trophies, decided by overall points after four heats of racing and a qualifying session.

The presentation of the Graeme Monds Memorial Trophy, however, was independent of race results and decided by Jeanette. She based her decision on criteria Graeme embodied with his racing – attitude, respect, language & actions, and knowing how to play the game fairly.
For 2026, this went to fellow club member Mark Wicks, who won the KA3 Senior Medium class.
“Graeme was a phenomenal person and an asset for the Gippsland club and karting in general across the past almost 40 years” Wicks said.
“On a personal level, he was a good friend. Both he and Jeanette have played a significant role in my racing and my life, so to be the first person to have the honour of their name etched into the Memorial Trophy brings a lump to my throat. Very proud.”

What a wonderful event to commemorate a wonderful male. Graeme was a teacher for all karters, both young and old. Special thanks to Jeanette for carrying on Graeme’s legacy
