IKC Cadet Titles

Close to 250 competitors contested Round 3 of the Ipswich Kart Club Championships on Saturday the 5th of April, with the Feature Classes being Cadet 9 and Cadet 12.

A very talented Cadet 9 field was led home in Heat 1 by Felix Sim with Harry Lack, Rodney Bellbowen, Luke Robinson and Emerson Mills rounding out the top 5. Bellbowen was the Heat 2 winner from Sim, Lack, Ryder Xiong and Mills. Sim again won Heat 3 from Lack, Xiong, Bellbowen and Mills. In the Final Sim was supreme and won from Robinson, Xiong, Bellbowen and Lack.

With 35 starters, Cadet 12 was expected to provide some amazing racing and the youngsters put on a great show. Blake Haigh won Heat 1 from Aston Mills, Knox Black, Riccardo Johnston and Carter Grother. Haigh struck some trouble in Heat 2 with Mills winning from Black, Grother, Johnston and Lenox Carson. Mills again won Heat 3 from Johnston, Lukas Loeskow, Black and Carson. In a very entertaining Final, Johnston was able to get to the front with a very narrow win from Mills. Haigh had recovered brilliantly from his Heat 2 dramas to finish 3rd, ahead of Black and Loeskow.

Eventual Cadet Titles Winner Riccardo Johnston leads the Cadet 12 field.

The continued growth in karting in South East Queensland is reflected in the amount of new Cadet drivers coming into the sport and a huge 14 kart field was entered for the Cadet 9P and 12P class.

Spencer Jackson led home Heat 1 from Dallas Head and Jak Ribarevski in Cadet 12P, with Grayson McPhee leading home Dominic Micsko and Cooper Van Twest in Cadet 9P. Ribarevski won Heat 2 from Head and Jenson Lawson, McPhee again winning Cadet 9P from Riley Wilson and Maddie Tresillian. Ribarevski and Head had a great battle in Heat 3 in Cadet 12P, with Ribarevski just holding on for the win from Head and then Jackson in 3rd. McPhee again won Cadet 9P from Tresillian and Wilson. Head and Ribarevski put on a thrilling display in the Final with Ribarevski again just holding on for the win from Head and then Lawson in 3rd in Cadet 12P, whilst Tresillian won Cadet 9P from McPhee and Micsko.

After a DNF in the Final last Round, Brent Reading was dominant this round in TAG Heavy with a big win in the Final from Will Marshall and Josh Dagg.

Harrison Mitchell made the long trek up from the Central Coast worthwhile with a strong win in TAG Light ahead of Max Walton and Marc Tulloch.

Levi Doessel broke through for a great win in the Final of KA3 Junior Heavy ahead of Patrick Buckley and Jett Saraghi.

Jye Flynn continued his good form at Ipswich with a win in the KA3 Junior Light Final, ahead of Monty Jamieson who had a sensational day to get his first trip to the podium in the Junior class at Ipswich. Third across the line was Dima Micale.

Josh Goddard had a great day in DD2 wining the Final from Scott Cleveland and Adam Wood.

KA3 Senior was dominated by the teenagers with Ryan Reid taking out his 1st Final in Seniors ahead of Annabel Kennedy and a fine drive from Sebastian Simonelli in 3rd.

Alan Czislowski has been in fine form in TAG Restricted Masters this year and took another Final win ahead of Chris Williams and Scott Hyland.

For the 2nd Round in a row Riley Van Den Broek took out the Final of TAG Restricted Medium, with a strong win ahead of Matt Goddard and Rudy Frakas

TAG Restricted Light is super competitive at IKC this year and full of young guns eager for the podium. Luke Trost led home a Tecno boys trifecta in the Final ahead of Cohen Day and Cody Scott.

The 3rd Round of the IKC Championship also saw the return of the IKC Clubday Challenge Program for Cadet 9, Cadet 12, KA3 Junior Heavy, KA3 Junior Light, TAG Restricted Light, TAG Restricted Medium and TAG Restricted Masters and the Group winners were, Emerson Mills in Cadet 9 Group 2, Jack Musico in Cadet 12 Group 2, Shelby Smith in Cadet 12 Group 3, Leo Liu in KA3 Junior Heavy Group 2, Alex Boscarini in KA3 Junior Light Group 2, Charles Newman in KA3 Junior Light Group 3, Charlie Furlonger in TAG Restricted Light Group 2, Blake Remaili in TAG Restricted Light Group 3, Scott Jordan in TAG Restricted Medium Group 2, Adrian Ferguson in TAG Restricted Masters Group 3 and Scott Campbell in TAG Restricted Masters Group 2.

The next race meeting at Ipswich will be the big event for the year, the Ipswich Race of Champions (IROC) on the 9th, 10th and 11th of May. Entries should be opening next Tuesday night (15th April) and IKC will be announcing the significant prize pool and other details about the event in the next few days.
