Bathurst Blowout?

Updated submission documents reveal the cost to build the proposed kart track at Bathurst has increased by over 1 million dollars in a little over 6 months.

In reports from November last year the estimated cost for a 1000m long National standard circuit on Council-owned land was $4.7 million.

It is now over $5.8 million.

In response to public submissions (which closed in December 2023) and requests for additional information during the assessment period, amended plans and updated reports have recently been prepared.

The updated documentation is on the Bathurst Regional Council website HERE. This includes the overall and operation plans, cost estimate, environmental impacts etc.

After prior attempts to build a new kart track at Bathurst fell over, this one on 8.9 hectares of land (between Conrod Straight and the Bathurst Harness Club) looks like it’s ticking all the boxes for a top class facility – see previous post from last year HERE.

What’s next? Now that public submissions have been considered, the project proposal can be formally assessed and referred to a future Council meeting for determination.
