The Rotax E20 electric powertrain has received official CIK-FIA approval.
“This makes the new generation power unit the first ever E-Kart to be awarded this level of certification in karting” BRP-Rotax said in a statement.
Additionally, the Rotax E20 championship within the Rotax MAX Challenge Euro Trophy becomes the first CIK-FIA approved international series for electrically powered karts worldwide in 2024.
“To receive such recognition only emphasises that ongoing development of the electric technology is leading the field of quality sustainable options within the industry” the statement continued.
“The ultimate experience of driving the Rotax E20 with its incredible acceleration – from 0 to 100 km/hr in 3.5 seconds – high speed and unparalleled consistent power during the entire race, offers a competitive alternative. Every driver says the Boost feature is amazing, delivering extra power for more strategic racing.”
The RMC Euro Trophy E-Kart championship will be contested over three rounds in two classes – E20 Senior and E20 Masters. The 2024 Senior champion will be awarded a RMC Grand Finals ticket in the Rotax Senior MAX category. The remaining E20 Senior podium place-getters and the E20 Masters champion will receive E-Kart tickets for the headline Rotax event at Circuito Internazionale Napoli on October 19-26.
“The CIK-FIA Approval of the Rotax E20 E-Powertrain for E-Kart is something we at BRP-Rotax are extremely excited about” Rotax’s Peter Oelsinger said.
“We realise the importance of ensuring our range of products are offering our global customers the expected quality, unrivalled parity and best environmental options, both now and in future. To receive CIK-FIA Approval for the Rotax E20 series at the RMC Euro Trophy also reconfirms our advancement in more sustainable technology at international level competition in karting.”
