Special Award to Honour Max

With the recent passing of Max Laybutt, Karting NSW has announced a very special annual award in his memory.

Unlike most awards that go to the competitors, this one will recognse volunteers who run the meetings.

“We’re thrilled to unveil an initiative that shines a spotlight on the heart and soul of karting – our dedicated volunteer officials” KNSW posted.

“The ‘Max Laybutt Official’s Spirit Award’ pays tribute to those who not only keep the races fair, but also infuse the track with a sense of integrity and sportsmanship.

“Named after the legendary Max Laybutt, whose legacy lives on through his dedication to the sport, this award isn’t just another trophy. It’s a celebration of the values that Max showed that define our karting family – fairness, friendship, teamwork, sportsmanship, and unwavering dedication. It’s an honour that truly matters.”

The Max Laybutt Spirit Award will be presented to an official each year at the Karting NSW State Sprint Titles. The officials themselves will vote for a team mate they think deserves the award.
