The Ballarat Kart Club’s 2023 Winter Challenge has been run and won with a twist, with the event held in sunny Horsham, in a collaboration with the Wimmera Kart Racing Club.
The one-day event offered plenty of laps in a unique format that included two five lap sprint races after qualifying, followed by two more heats and a final. With modest entries in some classes and 61 overall, the club elected to run multiple classes on track at once.
For the sprint races only, the fields were gridded on lap times rather than classes, which provided some extra interest.
There were some standout performances throughout the day, including several drivers topping all sessions.
Ballarat wished to thank their own and Wimmera’s officials and volunteers, along with the visiting senior officials.
Big thanks also to Billet Developments, Remo Racing and DPE Kart Superstore for their contribution.
