KA3 Junior Heavy driver Lucas Lesmes has secured Jess Golding Motorsport’s very first championship win at the 2023 NSW State Cup.
Hosted by Coffs Harbour Kart Club on May 20 & 21, Lesmes took pole position by over 1 second in the KA3 Junior Heavy category, smashing the current track record and won all but one heat. Crossing the line a convincing 6.9 seconds ahead of second place getter, securing the coveted black plate.
“Winning the KA3 Junior Heavy NSW State Cup is a fantastic result. You couldn’t wipe the smile off my face event if you tried!” expressed Lucas Lesmes. “I am immensely grateful for the support of Jess and the whole JGM team who have made this possible.
Jess Golding commented. “It is very special moment to take our first karting championship win. Lots of hard work goes on behind the scenes and to win a final by such a significant gap is proof that what are doing here at JGM to help new kart racers, works. This result cements that the technical partnerships we have in Patrizicorse, BirelArt and Anarchy Kartsport is a winning combination, and we are looking forward to what’s next!”
Lucas will now turn his focus to Round 5 of the Ipswich Kart Club Championship which he is currently leading before heading to his first QLD State Karting Championship in Townsville.
