Mixed Fortunes for Bright Trio

Bright Brothers racing took on the 5th round of the Golden Power Series over the weekend at the Rochester Kart Club. All 3 brothers were back behind the wheel with Bodhi in KA3 Senior Medium, Zane in TAG 125 Light and Harley in KA3 Senior Light. All three brothers were keen to try and put their best foot forward.

Bodhi hit the track in the KA3 Senior Medium category with around 15 competitors to race against. Bright did a superb job in qualifying to put himself into the top 5 but then managed to bank a lap that put him on the front row of the grid! Bodhi completed 2 heats on Saturday where he was able to grab 3rd place in heat 1 and 4th place in heat 2. This had him out of position 4 for the final heat, where he was able to consolidate these results with another 4th place.

Bright put in one of his best drives of the season in the final starting 4th and making the move onto the podium in 3rd before taking 2nd spot in the back half of the race!

Bodhi spoke post weekend on one of his best results of the season. “It was a great weekend with strong pace all weekend to run in the top 4. It was a great result to start the final in 4th and have the pace to drive through and finish 2nd spot”.

Zane was up in the TAG 125 Light class and had a high calibre field of drivers to compete with. Bright qualified just outside the top 15 in position 17 overall, but wanted to try and move forward across the race. Zane managed to make up spots across the opening 2 heats moving up 3 spots to finish 14th in heat 1 and 7 spots across heat 2 to finish 10th.

Bright was unfortunately involved in a turn 1 starting incident in heat 3, but regrouped to finish in position 17 to complete the heats. Zane started out of position 13 for the final and moved his way forward into the top 10 for a great result in position 9!

Bright spoke post weekend about his pace and his tough field of rivals. “It was a pretty good weekend with pace improving over the weekend. We ended up only a couple tenths off the lead drivers in a very competitive field and to end up 9th in the final is a great result”.

Harley took on another competitive field in KA3 Senior Light with around 20 drivers taking the starter. Bright managed to stop the clock in qualifying in position 15 but had a DNF to start his racing weekend in heat 1.

Harley put in a great performance in heat 2, making his way into the top 10 before position 15 in heat 3 after starting down the order due to his DNF. In a weekend with promise and speed, Bright’s final unfortunately ended on the opening lap after turn 1 contact.

“It wasn’t the best weekend overall after having the pace to run inside the top 10″ Harley said. “I unfortunately kept on getting caught up in collisions and after the brake failure in practice 2 causing me to fly into the fence. Knowing I have that pace is the best thing coming out of the weekend and the heat 2 result. I’m really looking forward to Morwell and the rest of the year.”
