Liam Pollard continued his block buster season over the weekend for the 5th round of the Victorian Golden Power Series. Pollard made his first visit to the Rochester Kart Club circuit and was once again racing in the TAG 125 Heavy class.
With around 10 of the best drivers in the state taking the start, Liam was in for a fast and furious weekend of racing!
Pollard hit the track for Saturday qualifying and was still chasing some pace after the opening 2 practices compared to his rivals. The Hafele backed entry was battling for spots on the edge of the top 5 and was doing everything he could to try and get further up the grid. Liam stopped the clock in position 7 overall and was keen to try and move forward throughout the heats!

Liam was ready to go in heat 1 for his first race of the weekend. The DSI Engines powered entry got a clean get away and was up into 6th spot and trying to go with the top 5 drivers. Pollard continued to push hard and had improved pace from his earlier sessions. Liam made his way into 5th spot in the back end of the race and he was able to cross the line inside the top 5!
Heat 2 was late on Saturday afternoon and Pollard was hoping to get another top 5 result starting out of position 7. The Moment Maintenance sponsored entry moved up to position 6 on the opening lap but didn’t quite have the pace to go with the race leading drivers. Liam was able to make his way into position 5 in the middle stages of the race and was trying to improve pace. Pollard was able to make up another spot and crossed the line in position 4 overall!
Position 4 was the starting point for Liam in heat 3 and he was looking to continue his strong weekend of racing. The Hafele backed entry got pushed back a few positions off the start and slotted into position 6 overall. Pollard was pushing hard and was trying to go with the top 5 drivers ahead of him to keep gaining good points. Liam crossed the line in position 6 overall going into the 15 lap final.

Pollard was out of position 5 heading into the final and he was looking at finish his weekend in the top 5. The DSI Engines powered entry got a clean get away and slotted into position 6 once again looking to try and keep with the top 5. Liam improved his pace across the weekend and was driving the wheels off his Moment Maintenance backed entry in the final. Pollard was able to come home in position 5 overall in a great result to finish his weekend!
Liam’s father Cameron spoke post weekend on his young son’s racing. “Brilliant weekend with great weather and fast racing. Still chasing pace but bringing the front runners a bit closer as the heats go on. Still struggling with qualifying on new tracks”.
Pollard will be back behind the wheel this weekend for the 5th round of the Victorian Country Series at the Hamilton Kart Club.
