Kay used the first two practice sessions of Saturday morning to make any last improvements before heading out for Saturday morning qualifying. Kay set out for qualifying and was straight into the battle to set the fastest lap. The Energy Kart DJM Race Engineering supported entry was straight into the top ten and pushing his way into the top five. The top three drivers were battling up the time sheet for pole position but Jeremy was doing a great job inside the top five. Kay set the fourth fastest time of the session and was starting off the outside of the second row for the opening heats.

Jeremy was out of position four for the opening heat and got a lighting start moving up into the top three! Archie Bristow ran behind him the first three laps before making the move and pushing Kay back to position four. Jeremy ran in fourth position in the middle stages but coming through lap traffic closed in on the top three again. Kay made his way back up into the top three and was able to cross the line in third spot!

The team was ecstatic and now looked to heat two to continue his good start to the weekend. Heat two was on late Saturday afternoon and Jeremy was able to nail the start once again. Kay moved up to position three and was running behind the two front runners. The DJM Race Engineering backed entry dropped back to position four in the early stages. Jeremy didn’t quite have enough to go with top three but improved in lap time from the previous heat. Kay crossed the line with another strong fourth position and finished his Saturday on a high.

Kay was excited for the final and was looking to push for a podium result. Jeremy got another great start settling into position four a bit behind the top three. The DJM Race Engineering supported driver put in an epic performance picking up another two tenths in lap speed and challenging Jackson Brasher all the way for the final podium spot. Jeremy came home inside the top five with a brilliant position four to end the weekend!

Jeremy’s father John spoke post weekend of his young drivers brilliant weekend. A great weekend was had by all. “Not one to disappoint he knew what he had to do. The grid was full of determined Cadet 9 drivers and the battle was on in the final especially in the top 5. Consistent Kart craft from all led to an action packed finish with a well-deserved position one for good mate Jensen crossing the line at a blistering pace. Many thanks go to the Energy Drivers Pit teams for their support and dedication as well as the Frith family. Further thanks to Dylan from DJM for constant support, Mick Gollan from MG engines for a killer engine, the Golden Power organisers and GVKC members for hosting especially Brent Opie”.

Young Jeremy will certainly be a driver to watch in the Golden Power Series in 2022.
