The Kym Rodda Memorial has become a special annual event for the Port Pirie Go Kart Club. Last weekend’s event was dedicated to honouring Kym’s memory and celebrating the impact and legacy he left on the club and on dirt karting more broadly.
“Kym loved the competition and the banter, but more than anything he loved the people, the friendships, the beers after racing and all the stories that came with it” the club posted.
“That’s why this weekend, for us, has always been about so much more than racing.
“A massive Thank You to every driver and family who travelled near and far to race with us. The support for this event year after year genuinely means more than we can put into words.
“To our sponsors – thank you. Your generosity allows us to put on an event like this, with great prizes, trophies and something a little different for our competitors. We are incredibly lucky to have so many businesses and people willing to get behind our club.
“To our officials, volunteers, committee members and everyone who pitched in before, during and after the weekend — THANK YOU. Events like this simply don’t happen without a huge amount of work behind the scenes.
“And of course, congratulations to all of our Winners & Placegetters! We’re pretty sure Kym would’ve loved every minute of it. Thank you for helping us keep his memory and legacy alive.”
