A new category for five and six year old drivers has been approved by the Speedway Karting Association of Australasia.
The new ‘Midget’ class is classified as a demonstration training only category, but allows young kids to experience Speedway karting on a National level.
SKAA advise Midget licencing is already live on the Speedway Australia website, so kids can race now on a full or one-day licence.
The organisation classifies Midgets as drivers from 5 years of age to their 7th birthday. Once they turn 7, they must move into the Sub Junior class (unless an exemption has been granted by the SKAA).
