Press Release
National Karting Development Centre: Driving Australia’s Motorsport Future
A bold vision for the future of Australian motorsport has been unveiled with the announcement
of the National Karting Development Centre (NKDC) on the Gold Coast.
Located at Lot 2, Litchfield Lane, Pimpama (formerly Xtreme Karting), the NKDC will combine
world-class karting facilities with education, training, and competition programs designed to
develop the next generation of Australian drivers.
The Centre will feature purpose-built tracks, professional driver training, school-based road
safety initiatives, and the ability to host state and national competitions. Its design is focused
on creating a safe, sustainable, and accessible environment where young drivers can learn,
compete, and grow into elite-level talent, all while engaging the local community.
To bring this vision to life, the project is seeking endorsement for the project via the Ministerial
Infrastructure Designation (MID) process, an assessment framework that facilitates delivery of
community infrastructure. The MID ensures rigorous planning, environmental, and traffic
assessments, with a focus on stakeholder engagement through various stages of the
assessment process.
“The NKDC is more than a motorsport facility – it’s a pathway for Australian talent and a hub for
community engagement,” said Project Director Sera Rohan.
“Through the MID process, we can ensure the facility meets the highest standards and delivers
long-term benefits for the Gold Coast, both on and off the track.”
The NKDC is expected to generate local employment opportunities, boost grassroots
motorsport, and position the Gold Coast as a premier destination for national and international
karting events.
Community support for the project is currently being sought through an online survey and
engagement process that is currently underway.

It will never happen. It’s next to a school. It’s near housing then a growing area. The people in the area will complain. Stop wasting your time. It will never ever happen . It’s a great idea wrong place. It’s gotta move further out with development board not catch it up. I wish them the best.
