Jace Matthews picked up two Queensland Kart Championships at the state titles last weekend. Conducted on the Makotrac International Racetrack at Mareeba (near Cairns), Matthews qualified fastest in both KA3 Senior Medium and TaG 125 Light.
A DNF and a DQ in the preliminary races buried him deep in the KA3 field for the final. However, by half race distance Matthews had taken the lead from Max Walton and cleared off to a 4.8s win. In TaG Light, the CXR Racing driver lead every lap to win by 3.5s over Jackson Souslin-Harlow.

“At a track that very few drivers had been able to practice prior to the championships, it still produced races where one driver was outstanding and won by a considerable margin, and others where it came down to the wire” said The Noise, Kev Davies.

“Local driver Michael Janusz managed third in a quality TaG 125 Light field. This was an excellent result for the locals and his brother Daniel Janusz got the fastest lap in the KA3 Junior Light final.”
