Cooloola Re-Built!

Australia Day was a beauty for the Cooloola Coast Kart Club, the re-built circuit officially re-opened and in use by its members.

The venue was out of action for all of 2024 as repairs were made to correct damage caused by the devastating floods of 2022 (read about that in previous post HERE).

Water everywhere in 2022 damaged the venue.

What was initially intended to be just a re-seal to fix the flood damage turned into a much bigger job.

“After removing the asphalt it was found that the entire pavement and subgrade had also failed” the contractor (Carruthers Contracting) said.

“This required a full redesign of the pavement and subgrade remediation.”

“Carruthers Contracting went above and beyond in completing the project for the club” Andy Mann informed KartSportNews.

In addition to the new racing surface, the facility has a new control tower, new in-grid and scales area plus a resurface of the pitting area.

The layout is essentially the same, however the last corner has been widened slightly, so new lap records are up for grabs. The question is, who will be the first to hold the new track record for clockwise direction?

For 2025, the club has a multi-round Club Championship commencing next month. It will host the Queensland 4SS State Trophy in October – see below:
