Southern Go Kart club hosted the 2023 South Australian Kart Championship at the re-configured Bolivar circuit on the weekend. Blue plates were awarded in nine classes.
“Big big thanks to all the volunteers who helped with this weekends 2023 State Titles, without them these things simply don’t happen” the club posted on Facebook.
“Some great showings (and some heartache) by our own members who raced at this event, El Presidente (aka Brett Fortanier) blitzed the field to take out TaG 125 Masters. Nikki Watson showed great pace all weekend but a DNF in Heat 3 was a set back but a storming drive in the final to take 4th place. Antoni Ornsby was on track for a SA State Title but was crueled by mechanical issues while leading the final.
“A great last lap pass by Dominic Mercuri resulted in third in Cadet 12s. Move of the day was by Samuel Miettunen who pirouetted on the grass, re-entered the track backwards (a real novel way to handle the Tysons-Middle Corner sequence) and still came home 3rd in heat 3… hats off to you sir.
“We have missed lots of Southern Go Kart Club member action but these were the highlights that came to mind, it was such an action filled weekend its simply impossible to mention them all.
“Great commentary by Leigh Cocker aka Vital Karting and massive thanks to all competitors, especially those who travelled far.”
