The Mother’s Day Meeting at Warwick

Another weekend, another racetrack! This time it was the Sandy Creek Raceway, home of Warwick Kart Club for the Club Championship round three – The Mother’s Day Meeting, which included prize draws for the mums!

The racing was so so good once again, Warwick’s track never lets us down for exciting racing with so many overtaking opportunities in every lap.

Stand out performers on the day would be first of all Rodney Rudy Farkas winning the TaG Restricted Masters making it a double win as he also won the day on Saturday which was Championship round 2. Shane Roberts exploded back onto the karting scene after a 7-year absence to take victory in the TaG Restricted Light class.

Equally impressive was Kel Goesch’s victory in TaG Restricted Medium, turning on the style in the 16 lap final. The most exciting race of the day was most certainly the Cadet 12 final which had us all on the edge of our seats. Victory eventually went to Brock Helm with Dima & Declan Hicks running him so so close.

Spare a thought for the Cadet 9s who had the last race of the day. Some 30 seconds after emerging from the out grid, a sprinkle of rain made the track almost un-drivable for the youngsters. Two of them managed to master it really well, they being Jeremy Broadbent who got the win and Ayrton Hobday who came home second. Eventually finishing third after numerous spins was Walter Hillier. They all did so well to even finish it!
