Energy Corse Shakedown for AKC

Energy Corse Australia continued its preparation for the 3rd round of the SP Tools Australian Kart Championship by tackling the shakedown event over the weekend! With drivers showing strong results across the opening rounds, Multiple national champion and team leader Cian Fothergill was looking to lead the Energy brand to more strong results!

Cadet 12 had a double driver attack in Pink plate champion Lana Flack and fellow front runner Caylen Burke. Both drivers produced scintillating times in qualifying to land inside the top 10 drivers with Flack in 3rd spot and Burke in position 8. Flack was nothing short of breath taking in her 4 heat races with 2nd position in heat 1 and 2 followed by a win in the final 2 heats. Burke was consistent across his 4 heats with a 3rd in heat 3 and 4th in heat 4 keeping him in contention.

Flack was outstanding in the final battle for the lead and the event win. The lady racer had to settle for a brilliant 2nd position with Burke also showing tremendous place to finish in 4th spot!

Former national champion and current KA3 state champion Ky Burke was taking on the premier KA2 junior class in a stacked field. Burke landed himself in position 13 in the all-important qualifying session and now had the job to work forward in the heats. Ky chipped away making his way into the top 10 with a brilliant 9th in heat 2 and 6th in heat 3. Burke raced hard and was able to come away with 7th place overall, building his moment into the Australian Kart Championship round.

Tyson had 2 top 10 finishes with 8th in heat 1 and 3 which had him off position 14 for the all-important final. Mcgill saved his best drive until last storming his way up the order and finish the final inside the top 5 and making up 9 positions in the progress!

Cian Fothergill spoke post weekend on his team’s weekend in Newcastle. “Its great to come away with another podium and 2 top 5 finishes! Lana is right in this championship and to leave this weekend knowing we’ve got the pace is an excellent result. Caylen, Ky and Tyson all learnt more going into the 3rd round in a few weeks”.

Fothergill’s Energy Corse Australia stable will be back in action for the 3rd round of the SP Tools Australian Kart Championship in the 1st week of June!
