It can’t be argued that karting is not a family sport, with multiple sets of siblings on the podium at Sunday’s meeting in Morwell.
It was the Gippsland Go Kart Club’s final race event for the year and last chance for drivers to score points in the club championship.
KA3 Senior Medium attracted a dozen entries. Despite two drivers having to pull out prior, it was still the largest club-day field for the year. Zane Bright had switched across from TaG 125 to contest the category and promptly won the round, scoring two wins across the four races. Zane’s brother Bodhi was second ahead of Mark Wicks (one win each) with Mark’s brother Grant just off the podium in fourth.
With sisters Isabel and Ieasha Rowe now both moved up from Juniors, KA3 Senior Light boasted three drivers from the same family. Elder brother Jamie took the win (despite crashing out with Ieasha in the second heat!) over Isabel with Nick Popple third.
Ryan Wyhoon enjoyed a clean sweep of victories in KA4 Junior, as did his uncle, Geoff, in TaG 125 Heavy.
Cadet 12 featured lots of battles. Bryce Felmingham and Corey O’Brien scored two wins each, Felmingham coming out on top on points. Jordan Bantick was unchallenged to win Cadet 9.
