Lana Flack and Luca Wasley were the double driver attack for Energy Corse Australia in the massive field of Cadet 12. Flack did a superb job in qualifying putting herself in 3rd position overall, while Wasley was just outside the top 15 in position 17 overall. Flack did a superb job in her 4 heats bringing home 2 top 5 results and a 6th and 8th which kept her right in touch with the leaders and the top 5. Wasley was racing around the edge of the top 15 and got as high as 14th position, before an unfortunate DNF in the final heat hurt his final starting spot. Flack once again led the way in the final, coming home in position 8 overall in a super competitive field. Wasley recovered to finish the final and came home inside the top 20 in position 19 with a credible weekend had by the young driver.

Hamish Fitzsimmons took on an ultra-competitive X30 class for the Energy Corse Australia team. Hamish was blisteringly quick in qualifying and got within 5 hundredths of a second off pole position. Fitzsimmons backed this up with a brilliant 2nd place in heat 1, before bad luck hurt his chances in heat 2 with an unfortunate DNF. Hamish stormed up to 6th position in the 3rd heat but had no luck from there, being involved in incidents in the final heat and not finishing the final. Fitzsimmons had blistering pace and will continue his prep for his overseas racing at Las Vegas.

Multiple time state champion and former national champion Ky Burke took the start in KA3 Junior in his Energy Corse chassis. Burke qualified inside the top 10 in position 9 but was on the move forward in the opening heats with a brilliant 4th position in heat 1 and 6th position in heat 2. Ky had another 2 top 10 finishes in the remaining 2 heats with 10th in heat 3 and 9th in heat 4 and he was looking to make his way back into the top 5. Burke put in another strong performance in the final, making his way up to a brilliant 5th position in an excellent drive.

Team owner Cian Fothergill spoke post weekend on his teams results and preparation for their overseas Las Vegas trip. “It was great to return to Newcastle kart club. Having speed in cadets juniors and seniors. The weekend started well for the team. Showing pace in practice, and in all weather conditions. Racing didn’t quite go our way in some of the races, but that’s racing! A Dominate Win for Martin in TAG Restricted Masters was a huge highlight for the team. Now to focus on Ky, Nicolas and Hamish and start prepping for the Supernats in Vegas with Nash Motorsport”.
