Qld Open Performance Titles This Weekend

by Russell Innes – Ipswich Kart Club

Racing returns to Ipswich Kart Club this Saturday the 2nd of April for the 2nd Round of the Club Championships, with the Feature Class being Queensland Open Performance.

KZ2 and KA2 also feature on the program for this Round, which has helped boost the entry numbers to a massive 288 and continues the trend of record entry numbers at IKC Club Rounds. Entries have been received from far and wide, Darwin to Tasmania, so word has certainly spread that IKC Club Rounds are the place to race.

Queensland Open Performance will be hotly contested with Leorra Devisser, Brett Wells, Scott Cleveland Brock Plumb, Keyan Appleby and Dan Hutchinson likely frontrunners.

Bailey Sagaidak will have to be the favourite in the KZ2 field, but there will be plenty of challenges from the likes of Scott Sorensen, Chase Webster and Carter Mobbs.

Jack Wells, Isaac McNeill, Ryan McMillan and Brodie Norris will be hard to beat in the talented KA2 field.

The Cadet Ps also feature again on the programme at IKC and this has become a very popular and exciting class to watch as the new boys and girls learn their racecraft. Mia Yarwood, Chad Rissman, August Soward and Campbell Dawson will be ones to watch in Cadet 12P, whilst in Cadet 9P Leighton Thorley, Jeremy Broadbent and Joshua Fabian will be aiming to repeat their podium performance from Round 1. Monty Jamieson, Jett Mathers, Riccardo Johnston and Tyler Hoare are amongst the first timers and will all be excited to race at IKC for the first time.

The Cadet classes as always have massive numbers with 20 in Cadet 9 and 34 in Cadet 12, so will again provide some exciting racing. KA4 Junior Light has a bumper field of 28, whilst the other big field will be TAG Light with 32 entries.

With such large numbers and so many classes on offer, it will be a long day for everyone, but the very efficient team of officials and volunteers at IKC will aim to have the day completed by 8.00pm.
