Vale – Russell Grimson

It is a sad start to 2021 with the news that long time karter, official and club administrator Russell Grimson has passed away.

A number of tributes have already been posted. Funeral arrangements will be published once known.

RIP Russell.

Combined Districts Kart Club – It is with great sadness, we pass on the news that Russell Grimson has passed away this morning. Russell will be deeply missed by Combined Districts Kart Club and the karting community. Russell has served for many years on the CDKC Committee and has been instrumental in great club events. The Junior Development Camp and the Breast Cancer Ladies event would not have been such great events without Russell’s passion and commitment. Rest in peace Russell.

Karting NSW – It is with a very heavy heart and great sadness that the karting community has learned that our great Historian, Official, Mentor, Friend and long time karting entrepreneur and lifetime ambassador, Russell Grimson passed away this morning. We are all deeply saddened by this news and wish to pass on our sincerest condolences to Russell’s family and friends at this time. RIP Russell.

NSWSKC – On the behalf of NSWSKC, we send our deepest sympathy to his family & all that knew Russell – he will be very much missed & especially to our club too.

NSW KZ2 Super Series – Our condolences to the Grimson family. Russell was a great man and we loved seeing him at every Lithgow round. We’ll miss his stories about the sport and his contributions, too. Rest in Peace, Russell.

Coffs Harbour Kart Club – It is with great sadness that one of our life time members Russell Grimson has passed away. In 1980, Russell instigated the formation of the Banana Republic Kart Club, which in time became the Coffs Harbour Kart Racing Club. Russell was involved in the design and construction of the Coffs Harbour City Kart Raceway between 1989 and 1991 as well as with extensions to the track in 2000. From 1993, Russell participated in Coffs Harbour race meetings and obtained karting accreditations as a clerk, a steward, a trainer and an historian. Russell was the Coffs Harbour Kart Racing Club President from 1981 to 1983, Vice President in the late 1990s and Secretary in 2000. Russell continued to come & officiate at our Over 40’s event every year, last year he was our scales marshall. He will be sadly missed by our members and the wider karting community. Our condolences to his family & friends, RIP Russell.
