City of Cairns Titles

by Kim Jones

August 24th saw the annual City of Cairns Titles run at the Cairns International Speedway. Mother nature put on a pristine Cairns day to create the perfect racing weather, although a little warm.

With a few defending winners were unavailable to compete, there were a few changes on the top step of the podium.

In the Cadet 12 class, the formality ensued with Michael Janusz running away with the win in front of local driver Tyler Allen and the quickly improving Dayne Ross.

The KA4 Junior Light class resumed the fight between Seth Chellingworth and Summer Allen for the top spot. However Seth was on form taking out Qualifying and the final, with Summer second and Johnno Stockman.

KA3 Senior Light saw some great racing between locals Hayden Hopp and Jack Bugler. But with Jack unable to finish the final, Hayden ran away with victory ahead of a tight battle between Kaleb Smee for second and Maurice Smith for third.

KA3 Senior Medium saw a tight battle between Craig Beehag, Michael Peake and Sebastian Di Salvo all day. Craig and Sebastian ran away with it after contact pushed Michael to the rear of field only to fight has way back to take P3 on the second last lap.
