Archie’s Ultimate Win

Archie Bristow returned to the scene of his maiden state championship over the weekend at the Go Kart Club of South Australia. Bristow was taking on the Karting Australia Ultimate Club Racer event, where the Silver Plate champion was crowned.

In reverse direction from his last visit to the circuit, Archie was ready to do battle for the Cadet 9 title. Bristow used Friday practice to get himself up to speed with the circuit and he was ready to do battle for pole position on Saturday morning.

The Bridgeswade Pools and Spas backed entry put himself straight into the top 5 calculations and then into the top 3. Archie didn’t quite have the setup he needed to challenge for pole position but was doing everything he could to get as far up the grid as possible. Bristow was able to stop the clock in 2nd position overall and have himself on the front row for the opening heat!

Archie with his father tuned up the kart post qualifying and was ready to try and challenge for victory. Bristow was able to settle into 2nd position on the opening lap and quickly made a move for the lead on lap 2! Archie’s Parolin chassis was in the set-up window and he was in the battle for victory with earlier pole sitter Oscar Haddon. Bristow was able to lead the race from there and take the opening heat win by a couple of tenths.

Bristow was looking to continue his strong run-in heat 2 and get to the lead. The M J Pressure and Property Works sponsored entry was able to jump straight to the lead and open up margin in the early stages. As the battle occurred behind, Archie continued to put in smooth and fast lap times to open up from the rest of the field. Bristow was able to make it 2 from 2 in the heats taking out a 3 second race victory!

Archie was off pole position for his 3rd and final heat on Saturday and was looking to make it 3 from 3 race wins. Bristow was able to get another clean start and open up margin on the rest of the field. Archie was putting in fast lap times and was never under threat as the race went on, with his set up right in the window. Bristow finished Saturday in strong fashion taking his 3rd consecutive heat win, which had him off pole position for Sunday morning.

Archie was looking to take out his 3rd plate meeting in 2022 and was off pole position. Bristow got a clean get away but had earlier weekend pole sitter pushing him all the way and keeping the battle honest across the race. The M J Pressure and Property Works backed entry was able to hold his nerve and open up a racing winning margin to take the 2022 Ultimate Club Racer!

Archie now had a Silver Plate to go along with his Red plate for winning the Australasian Kart Titles and his Blue plate for winning the South Australian Kart Titles!

Archie’s father Matthew spoke post weekend on his son’s win in South Australia. “We looked forward to our trip back to Monarto after Archie’s success last time out at the state championship. This time however we run in the opposite clockwise direction so had to learn it all again. The weekend couldn’t have been better, weather and atmosphere were amazing and we both thoroughly enjoyed a extremely well run event by Karting Australia.

“Archie had great pace right from the start of the weekend. I didn’t get the set up right for qualifying but Archie gave some great feedback that helped to make sure the kart would be good for the heats. Being our last race in Cadet 9 it is a real buzz finishing on a high and winning the silver plate. Archie is really looking forward to a new challenge in Cadet 12 and would like to thank all of the cadet 9 drivers he has competed against for the thrilling battles and friendships made”.
