Koda Singh went into the final round of the Rotax Pro Tour over the weekend with one goal, to become Australian champion.
Singh had been one of the stand out drivers in the Micro Max class in season 2022 and was looking to finish his season on a high. Racing around the Coffs Harbour circuit, the young driver and team were ready to put their best foot forward.
Singh hit the track for Saturday morning under wet and damp conditions. Koda hit the circuit in his Parolin Australia kart and was immediately showing strong pace and excellent kart control in the tough conditions. Singh had managed to put himself at the top of the times and was working as hard as possible to grab the all-important pole position. Koda stopped the clock in position number 1 in what was a great start to his weekend!
Heat 1 was over 12 laps and Singh was looking to take out an all-important victory. The Pocket Rocket Brothers driver got a great start and was immediately opening up on the rest of the field. Koda was show speed and kart control well above his young age and experience and was putting on a clinic of driving. Singh was able to cross the line in 1st, taking victory by a whopping 16 seconds!
Singh had tricky conditions to manage once again in heat 2 but lost the start this time round and was back to position 2. Koda kept himself calm and was able to regroup and take the lead back on the 3rd lap of the race. Singh’s Parolin kart was working well and the young driver was able to open up slight margin. Koda had a much closer race this time around but was still able to take his 2nd win of the day by over a second.

The Pre-Final was over 17 laps and Koda was once again off the all-important pole position. Singh was able to lead at the conclusion of the opening lap but had Oliver Williamson applying the pressure to the Pocket Rocket Brothers driver. Koda was holding his nerve and continued to lead the race. Singh was able to come home and make it 3 out of 3 and put himself off pole position for the all-important final.
The nerves were high going into the final with New South Wales state championship on the line. With the final over 20 laps Singh got a clean start and slotted into 2nd spot. Koda was once again in a battle with Williamson, with both drivers having their chance to lead in the first half of proceedings. Singh took the lead on lap 16 and in a dramatic finish was able to take victory which secured him the New South Wales state title and he became the new Micro Max Australian Kart champion!
Koda spoke post weekend on the biggest weekend of his young career. “I had a great weekend taking on Micro Max. I’m extremely happy with my results. The conditions were tough but I managed pole qualifying, come first in every heat and take out the NSW state championship and win the Australian Championship!”
Singh will look to continue to grab strong results across the rest of the 2022 season.
