KA-NSW Appoint New President

Karting Australia (NSW) Inc. has a fresh new face in the President’s role after Robert Motbey was appointed by the Association on Thursday night.

Motbey has been involved in the sport of karting for several years having started with his son Blake at the Sapphire Coast Kart Club in 2015.  He replaces inaugural President David Laughton as a casual vacancy on the Executive Committee.

A successful businessman in the Bega region, the 40 year-old has led the Sapphire Coast Kart Club over the past few years and is excited about the potential for growth of the sport throughout New South Wales under the Karting Australia banner.

“Karting in New South Wales under the guidance of Karting Australia has enormous potential and I look forward to leading our Clubs into a bright future for the sport,” said Motbey.

“Over the past five years I’ve seen the sport from all aspects – Competitor, Parent, Official, Club Committee Member and Club President – and I’ve also regularly been a part of the sport from Club level right through to the Australian Kart Championship.

“I’d like to take the opportunity to thank Dave for his tireless work as President over the past 18 months.  It has been an extremely difficult time for everyone involved in our sport in New South Wales but he continually stood up for what was right for the sport of karting – as he has done so for many years.  He has helped lay a great foundation for the Association that will put us in a good position for many years to come.”

Motbey will be present at numerous upcoming events across the State and looks forward to working with the karting community as he settles into the role.  He can be contacted on president@kansw.com.au or 0417 816 821.
