From 17 to 20 September 2026, the Fédération Française du Sport Automobile (FFSA) will host the first edition of the Handikart Champions Cup at the International Karting Circuit in Le Mans, in close collaboration with FIA Karting.
France has long encouraged karting competition for drivers with reduced mobility and the Handikart Champions Cup is an evolution of the former International Handikart Trophy launched in 2013.
Pioneers fuelled by passion have developed Handikart over many years. Fabrice Dubois was a pioneer, travelling to numerous national and international competitions to raise awareness among spectators and fans of this sport. With Alain Nicolle, they were then at the origin of the official involvement of the FFSA in this type of event.
The Handikart Champions Cup is supported by the FIA through the Disability and Accessibility Commission. It is part of the prestigious meeting organised in collaboration with the ASK ACO at Le Mans from 17 to 20 September, including the Mondokart.com FIA Karting World Championship (KZ), the FIA Karting KZ2 World Cup and the FIA Karting International Masters’ Super Cup.
The Handikart Champions Cup is an important step in the national and international development of the practice of Handikart with the support of the FIA. It is an event open to karting drivers with reduced mobility from all countries and uses Rotax Max and Iame X30 engines. The equipment must be approved by the FFSA via a Handikart approval form (documents to be consulted on the https://www.fiakarting.com/page/guidelines-drivers-disabilities website).

In partnership with LeCont, the official tyre supplier of the Le Mans competition, two sets of Option LOH CIK slick tyres will be offered to all entries. An entry fee of €290 applies when registering on the www.ffsakarting.org website and dedicated training days will be available at the Le Mans circuit: https://www.lemans-karting.com/competition-licencie/licencies-kart/
Over time, the FFSA has developed a regulatory approach that takes into account the number of appropriate controls needed by each driver, a kart with three basic controls: steering wheel, accelerator and brake. An inversely proportional weight scale has been adopted to bring the level of performance closer and lead to more direct confrontations on the track.
- Category H1: 0 or 1 adapted control, minimum weight 170 kg including driver
- Category H2: 2 adapted controls, minimum weight 165 kg including driver *
- Category H3: 3 adapted controls, minimum weight 160 kg including driver
* Drivers who only use one arm to drive are classified as H2.
The winner of the Handikart Champions Cup will be invited to the Trophées du Sport Automobile de la FFSA.
