Levi Doessel, Josh Williams and Monty Jamieson were the fast trio in Qualifying in KA3 Junior Heavy, significantly ahead of the rest of the field and these 3 would effectively dominate during the day. Doessel won Heat 1 ahead of Williams and Jamieson, but Williams won Heat 2 from Jamieson and Ryan Purdy, whilst Doessel finished well back after troubles early in the race. Williams again won Heat 3 from Doessel who had to work his way forward from a lower starting spot and then Jamieson in 3rd. In the Final Williams led from pole and all the way to the flag, ahead of Doessel who again had to work his way forward from 4th on the grid, passing Purdy and then Jamieson. Jamieson was 3rd from Purdy in 4th and Ethan Baxter 5th.

KA3 Junior Heavy podium. 2nd Levi Doessel, 1st Josh Williams, 3rd Monty Jamieson, Group 2 Winner Ryan Purdy.

In KA3 Senior, Jett Saraghi was fastest in Qualifying from Jace Matthews and Jack Munro. Munro had a brilliant win in Heat 1 from Saraghi and Matthews. Saraghi turned the tables in Heat 2 with a strong win from Matthews and Munro. Max Walton who had been disqualified after Qualifying and had to start the 1st 2 Heats from the rear of the field and worked his way forward, started Heat 3 from 7th and drove forward to battle with Munro, then Saraghi and then Matthews to win Heat 3, Saraghi 2nd and Matthews 3rd. With a starting grid of Saraghi, Matthews, Munro, Dominic Penman, Walton, Cooper Fysh, Jye Flynn and Tyson McGill making up the 1st 4 Rows, it was bound to be an epic Final. Saraghi, Matthews and Penman were the front 3 early, before Walton again came forward and moved to 2nd place with McGill having a fantastic first couple of laps to move to 3rd. With a couple of laps to go Walton was following Saraghi very closely and went for the lead at the end of the back straight and momentarily took the lead from Matthews who also slipped through into 2nd as Saraghi and McGill went wide, but Walton was compromised on the entry to the next corner allowing Matthews to get up the inside and these two rubbed panels and in all the shuffling around Saraghi was able to retake the lead from McGill and then Matthews as Walton spun out and out of the race. The Final result was Saraghi 1st, McGill 2nd, Matthews 3rd, Flynn finishing well to capture 4th and Toby Spinks driving from 9th at the start to finish 5th.

KA3 Senior podium. Tyson McGill 2nd, Jett Saraghi 1st, Jace Matthews 3rd.

In KA3 Junior Light, Ethan Turnbull was very fast and well clear of Jack Jensen and AJ Leggatt. Leggatt got a brilliant start to lead Heat 1 from Jensen and Dima Micale, whilst Turnbull had fallen back a few spots from Pole. Leggatt held the lead throughout to win narrowly from Jensen with Turnbull fighting back to finish 3rd. Turnbull got a better start in Heat 2 to lead early from Leggatt and Micale. As the laps wound down Leggatt was keeping some pressure on Turnbull and then grabbed the lead on the 2nd last lap and held it to the chequered flag, Turnbull 2nd and then a gap to Micale in 3rd. In Heat 3 it was Leggatts turn to have a bad 1st lap as he dropped down to 5th, behind Turnbull, Micale, Jensen and Aston Mills. Turnbull would lead all the way from Micale whilst Leggatt and Josh Williams were the big movers coming forward, with Leggatt taking 2nd from Micale on lap 8 and then Williams also passing Micale on lap 9. It all led to what would be a fantastic Final. Leggatt, Turnbull and Micale ran as the front 3 for the 1st 4 laps before Micale made a move stick on Turnbull to grab 2nd, but Leggatt was able to pull a nice little gap at the front as Josh Williams latched onto the tail of Turnbull and Micale and then moved past both to take 2nd place. Whilst Leggatt had a small but comfortable margin out front, Williams, Micale and Turnbull were having a great battle for the minor placings, with Micale and Turnbull both getting back past Williams with 2 laps to go. Leggatt went on to win comfortably from Micale whilst Williams grabbed 3rd as Turnbull fell down the order on the last lap, with Oscar Hennock grabbing 4th and Zander Watts finishing 5th.

KA3 Junior Light podium. Dima Micale 2nd, AJ Leggatt 1st, Josh Williams 2nd.

TAG Restricted Masters had 30 entries and Regan Payne was dominant winning all 3 Heats and the Final from Aaron Rabjones and Noel Smyth.

TAG Restricted Medium has had a huge serge in numbers at Ipswich and 29 drivers fronted up. James McLaren had a great win in Heat 1, with Brendan Nelson winning Heats 2 and 3. Nelson led home Chris Williams and Jared Neinert in the Final.

Angus Kues-Sales won 2 of the 3 TAG Restricted Light Heats with Lennox Gee Leung breaking through for his 1st Heat win in the other Heat. Kues-Sales had a comfortable win in the Final from Kalan Mullins and Gee Leung.

TAG Restricted Light Podium. Kalan Mullins 2nd, Angus Kues-Sales 1st, Lennox Gee Leung 3rd, Mark Hili Group 3 Winner.

In Cadet 9, Harry Lack, Vinny Missen, Grayson McPhee and Emerson Mills were the standout drivers at the front, Lack winning 2 Heats and McPhee the other. In the Final Lack led all the way but Missen applied tremendous pressure throughout to fall short by a couple of kart lengths. McPhee followed through in 3rd.

Cadet 9 Podium. Maddie Tresillian Group 2 Winner, Vinny Missen 2nd, Harry Lack 1st, Grayson McPhee 3rd, Loic Bucher Group 3 Winner.

Knox Black, Riccardo Johnston, Kenichi Morita, Luke Robinson and Harlen Bell were all amongst the placings during the Heats of Cadet 12, but in the Final it was Black and Bell who had a fantastic battle at the front, Black winning by the narrowest of margins from Bell and then Oscar Ray making the most of an intense pack of karts also including Jack Musico, Morita and Robinson fighting for 3rd that went almost 4 wide across the line.

Cadet 12 Podium. Sebastian Woodrow Group 2 Winner, Harlen Bell 2nd, Knox Black 1st, Oscar Ray 3rd, Elijah Russell Group 3 Winner.

KA2 Junior contested Round 2 of the Ipswich Kart Club “Pineapple Cup” Series and Oscar Hennock had 2 wins with Levi Doessel taking the win in the other Heat. Seth Huth was also up in the placings during the Heats and was having probably his best race meeting in KA2. Huth took the lead early in the Final and drove a brilliant race to hold Hennock out until lap 8. Hennock then drove away a bit at the front as Huth held off a challenge from Doessel and then Cooper Folley to cross the line 2nd but a race start penalty of 5 seconds dropped him back to 7th elevating Folley to 2nd behind Hennock, with Doessel up to 3rd.

KA2 Junior Podium. Cooper Folley 2nd, Oscar Hennock 1st, Levi Doessel 3rd.

X30 also contested Round 2 of the “Pineapple Cup” Series and Jace Matthews won all 3 Heats and then led home Marc Tulloch and Ky Burke in the Final.

Brodie Norris was very fast in TAG and won 2 Heats with Ryan Uhlmann winning the other. In the Final Norris won comfortably from Hamish Campbell and Trent Newton.

In the combined DD2/Open Performance races, Troy Loeskow and Jay Coul had some great battles in their KZ’s running as Open Performance, Loeskow winning the Final from Coul and Brent McIntosh 3rd. The DD2 drivers put on some very entertaining racing with Dan Hutchinson, Kris Walton and Angus Mathers the frontrunners. The Final was a fantastic race to watch as Hutchinson, Walton and Mathers battled it out very closely, but Walton used all his experience to just build a small gap at the end to win from Mathers and Hutchinson.
