Saturday Report – Heats

A day of Qualifying Heats under the southern Italian sun has left Daniel Miron Lorente and Noah Baglin ahead as we look to tomorrow’s Super Heats and Finals that will begin to put the first points on the 2026 Modokart.com FIA Karting European Championship table.

Junior

Daniel Miron Lorente started the day in a strong position having qualified in fourth, and the Spanish driver was unbeatable around the La Conca circuit, wining every heat today with only teammate Antoine Sylva Venant able to take points from him yesterday in what was an incredibly close heat.

After winning his first heat yesterday Will Green carried this momentum into today, taking the chequered flag in P1 in his first two heats and performing crucial overtakes on Jarlath Sayer and 2025 FIA Karting Shootout competitor Gioele Girardello. A tricky final heat left him on 234 points – ten behind Daniel Miron Lorente.

Yesterday’s pole sitter Priam Bruno lost out to Green and Miron Lorente during a less assured day for the Belgian, but he finished Saturday on a high with a heat win that leaves him third in the provisional classification.

Many Nuvolini defended his advantage well today, and despite a setback in his second heat, finished strongly with three out of four heat wins. After gaining positions this morning, Oskari Walle ended his running today with an assured afternoon to also leave him in contention.

British driver Harry Williams displayed some racing brilliance this afternoon in an action filled heat where he banked no fewer than eight overtakes, including one over Italian Julian Frasnelli, to claim a third-place heat finish, whilst Academy Trophy graduate Oiva Vettenranta had a much more positive Saturday, moving up eight places from further down the field.

Provisional standings (Junior) after Qualifying Heats:

  1. Daniel Miron Lorente (ESP, KR) 244 points
  2. Will Green (GBP, KR) 234 points
  3. Priam Bruno (BEL, KR) 229 points
  4. Many Nuvolni (FRA, KR) 229 points
  5. Martin Bertolaccini (ARG, Parolin) 205 points

OK

It was a story of recovery for Dean Hoogendoorn today, as he went from 23rd position after Qualifying Practice yesterday to make up 13 places across his five heats, showing the Italian crowd why he is the current FIA Karting European Junior Champion.

Hoogendoorn’s former teammate Noah Baglin likewise put in a performance worthy of his World Champion status, performing some impressive overtakes, notably on Dan Allemann and then again on Thomas Pradier. He has been the driver to beat at La Conca and ended the day on with an almost flawless points total, only Luke Kornder could take points off the reigning World Champion in the final heat.

Polesitter Iskender Zülfikari defended his advantage early today, but with Andrea Manni surging four places and then two later DNF’s, his grid position looked uncertain. He finished the day on 121 points.

Giles Herman and Tobias Szecenyi benefited from Zülfikari’s first DNF, both gaining five places to claim the heat win and runner-up position respectively. During the same heat Klara Kowalczyk made her second DNF of the day, as her weekend yesterday’s promising performance failed to find more momentum today.

Nicolo Cuman had a storming first heat, making up eight places to challenge for the lead, and gained places again in his second heat to bring him into contention ahead of tomorrow’s all-important Super Heats and Finals. James Anagnostiadis has also made up places since Qualifying Practice yesterday, with the FIA Karting Rookie of the Year moving from 35th place to 15th.

Zac Drummond started his day with a DNF, but after a heat win over Henry Domain and Benjamin Manach, his Super Heat performance tomorrow will be crucial to see if he can secure a top grid position for the final.

Provisional standings (OK) after Qualifying Heats:

  • Noah Baglin (GBR, KR) 244 points
  • Henry Domain (GBR, Henza Kart) 215 points
  • Giles Herman (BEL, Tony Kart) 208 points
  • Dean Hoogendorn (NED, Parolin) 202 points
  • Benjamin Manach (ESP, Parolin) 198 points

Friday Report – Qualifying

The 2026 FIA Karting season officially got underway today as karts hit the track for the first time and drivers got to grips with the La Conca circuit in southern Italy. Following free practice sessions earlier this morning, drivers had their first opportunity to get a nose ahead in the Mondokart.com FIA Karting European Championship standings as Qualifying Practice began.

Qualifying Practice

Separated into three Junior and three OK qualifying groups, 30 Juniors took to the track in the first session of the day, with Belgian driver Priam Bruno laying down the early time to beat, setting an impressive benchmark of 47.923s which included 2 purple sectors. Daniel Miron Lorente was just behind him after a solid performance that continues his promising early start to the year. After a penalty to Mark Pilpenko, Jarlath Sayer ended Session 2 atop the timings but unable to match Bruno’s pace. In the third and final heat only Many Nuvolini could come close to the time set in session one leaving Priam Bruno as the polesitter and P1 in Group A this afternoon.

In the OK category, KR driver Klara Kowalczyk seized an early advantage over reigning World Champion Noah Baglin in the first session to put on her on a provisional pole. Her advantage was short lived, as Iskender Zülfikari managed to snatch the top spot in the timings during the second session with a standout 46.343s that was ultimately unmatched in the final session, with Dan Allemann’s time just 0.095 seconds behind the Turkish driver. Zülfikari started this afternoon’s heats on pole as he looked to convert his advantage into a solid grid position.

Qualifying Heats

This afternoon saw the first Qualifying Heats, where Antoine Sylva Venant pushed up the order to take an early points lead as polesitter Priam Bruno lost out to Many Nuvolini, who earlier topped his qualifying group.

Max Felde had a solid afternoon picking up places in both heats, as did Jason Kosmopoulos who stormed forward 12 places in his second heat. However, it was Daniel Miron Lorente who consistently held position, putting him in strong contention this weekend along with Martin Bertolaccini who surged up to second in his second heat.

The first OK heat of the afternoon saw Noah Baglin, Dean Hoogendoorn and Zac Drummond battle against each other in what was a potential taste of not only Sunday’s final but perhaps the rest of the season. Baglin performed a crucial overtake on Drummond in his first heat and on Klara Kowalczyk during his second heat to finish the day on maximum points. Hoogendoorn made up three places after a disappointing morning in Qualifying Practice.

Zülfikari held his advantage in his one heat of the afternoon, but with Baglin winning both of his heats and Kowalczyk showing no signs of shaking, Saturday will be the first test of the drivers’ consistency as the Championship battle really begins.
