Another Australian has crossed the line first at an international karting event, only to lose victory due to a post-race nose cone penalty.

Just weeks after James Anagnostiadis suffered heartbreak at the opening round of WSK Super Masters, Queensland’s Knox Black has done likewise at the IAME Asia Pacific Games.

Knox Black, X30 Junior

Competing in X30 Junior with Birelart Racing Asia, Black had come from deep in the field to cross the line first and take fastest lap in a thrilling final. Unfortunately, he and second-placed Mason Kwong suffered push-back penalties.

All the more remarkable, it was the 12-year-old’s first drive of a full-size kart, having just come out of Cadets.

Results of the finals for the Australians is below. It should be noted, all the drivers who suffered DNFs were running in the top six and in contention for a podium in their respective classes. In fact, at one point Jaiden Pope was running P2 in the senior final.
