A ‘Trophy Class’ spec category will be available for Australian Rotax racers in 2026.
The idea of the Trophy Class is to put focus back on the driver, not the technical setup.
Every competitor must run the same (yet to be announced) control chassis and engine package.
They will run the same axles, wheels, hubs, etc, so no second-guessing whether you’ve chosen the “right” kart or components.
“Sanctioned by Karting Australia, Trophy Class is designed to make karting simpler, more affordable, and more accessible” IKD posted.
“You’ll know that the kart ahead of you — and the one behind — is running the same gear. That means closer racing, fair competition, and a greater emphasis on driving skill!”
Additionally, the Junior MAX class will use the Senior MAX engine, restricted to TAG Restricted specifications.
“This allows drivers to compete in Junior MAX and then move into the Senior class using the same engine, eliminating the need for additional engine purchases.”
IKD will soon offer an upgrade deal to transition from Junior MAX engines to Senior MAX.
Further, Junior MAX will transition to Trophy Class chassis specification, as per above.
