With confirmation of an Australian Kart Championship round, the Townsville Kart Club is in for a big year of racing in 2026.
The season will kick off with a club favourite, the Australia Day Cup in January. There will then be a 6-round Club Championship series, the AKC round, a 2-day AKC Shakedown meeting, plus the final round of the NQ Series in October.

The club is delighted to have snatched a round of AKC.
“This is a truly special moment for our club. We haven’t held a national-level event since hosting the one-off Australian Sprint Kart Championship over Easter in 2009” the club posted.
“To welcome Australia’s premier multi-round championship to our circuit for the very first time is an incredible milestone for our region and our next generation of racers.”
The AKC announcement also gained airtime on regional TV (see below).
