Anniversary Australian Kart Masters

by CHKRC

It was a sunny weekend to remember at the 30th Anniversary 2025 Australian Kart Masters – Honouring Ian Brown!

The event, a passion project of Brownie, was designed to elevate go-karting to a national event for experienced drivers aged 40 and above.

Competitors raced fiercely for the esteemed National ‘grey plate’ in their respective classes, drawing from Ian’s legacy of integrity, deep ties to the racing community, and extraordinary contributions to the club.

Here, everyone feels like family. Friendships bloom, and while the racing may be fierce, the after-race celebrations with beers and laughter are all about enjoying the good times.

On Friday afternoon, Hargans Hot Shot Pole Winners were announced after qualifying, aptly named in honor of one of the event’s founding members Gerry Hargans.

Following intense battles on the track Saturday, the night saw drivers, pit crews, and families unite during our social gathering at the new clubhouse. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement, the food was delicious, and everyone soaked in the incredible vibe of the event.

Sunday brought the thrill of Heat 4 and the finals. The TaG 125 Restricted Legends (60+) race kept everyone at the edge of their seats, with our very own track maintenance man, Winston Heywood, clinching victory after an intense battle between the top two racers jeopardized their final chances.

The Russell Grimson Memorial Trophy, awarded to the winning competitor in the largest field of the weekend, the TaG 125 Restricted Medium, went to David Vogel, carrying the name of another founding member of the event Russell Grimson.

As the trophy presentation unfolded, local Mayor Nikki Williams honored the podium finishers with their well-deserved trophies and the National grey plate for the winners.

Attendees left with positive feedback, already excitedly booking for next year’s event. Here’s to 2026!
