The 2025 Sugar City Titles was a record breaker for the Mackay and District Kart Club.
“We’re thrilled to share that this year’s event drew a record-breaking 93 competitors, the most since Mackay and District Kart Club became independent in 2018 (reference – Race monitor)” the club posted.

The excitement was amplified by the allure of our iconic Cane Knives, symbolizing Mackay’s proud sugar heritage. These striking pieces of craftsmanship attracted visitors from across the region, including Emerald, Charters Towers, Cairns, Gladstone, Rockhampton, Townsville, and the Whitsundays.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Mayor Greg Williamson for opening the event and sharing his time with us throughout the day. Mayor Williamson even took on the role of race starter, under the direction of our clerk of course, as he proudly started our Cadet 12s in their race with the Australian flag.

A huge thank you to our Management Committee for their unwavering dedication and hard work in organizing such an incredible event! This would not be possible without the support of our dedicated volunteers and officials who worked tirelessly behind the scenes and on the day itself. And a special shout-out to the yard crew for their outstanding work in preparing the grounds — the venue looked stunning! We appreciate everyone’s contributions in making this event a massive success!

Huge thanks to Woolworths Walkerston for once again supplying us with a fantastic variety of fruit to keep our competitors well-nourished! We truly appreciate your support.
Big congratulations to our new members Max Cashin, Noah Hille and Bailey Haines who raced their first meeting at Mackay and District Kart Club – we are so proud of you all and welcome to the club.
