The 2025 Australian Kart Masters will be honouring Ian Brown on June 6 to 8. This will be the 30th anniversary of the famous Coffs Harbour event.
“The Over 40’s Titles now has a new name thanks to the hard work & dedication of one of our longest serving volunteers, Ian Brown” the club advised KartSportNews.

“This renaming is a fitting recognition of his relentless efforts to ensure the event thrives year after year.
“It is 30 years ago that Gerry Hargans & Russell Grimson came up with the idea of running an event for the more experienced driver, so the Over 40’s was born.
”2025 marks the 30th Anniversary of the Australian Kart Masters honouring Ian Brown, a celebration held during the King’s birthday long weekend in June at the Coffs Harbour Kart Racing Club in New South Wales.

“The Australian Kart Masters honouring Ian Brown, is an event that Brownie passionately worked to elevate into a National Event for seasoned drivers aged 40 and above. Competitors vie for the prestigious National grey plate in their respective classes.
“Ian was the epitome of integrity; he was deeply connected to the go-kart track, and his contributions to the club were extraordinary – this is his enduring legacy.
“At the event, everyone feels like family; friendships flourish, and while the racing is intense, the camaraderie continues with beers and laughter afterward—it’s all about good times.

“In addition to honouring Ian Brown, we also celebrate Russell Grimson, with the class boasting the most competitors competing for the Russell Grimson Memorial Trophy!
