Tassie Speedway Titles

Latrobe Speedway hosted the Alexander Mechanical Tasmanian State Title on February 23. Two senior categories (Modifieds and 125cc Pro) and a Junior class (9 to 16-years) contested three rounds of 8-lap heats and ended the day with 20-lap A-Mains.

The club reported thunderstorms in the early hours of Sunday morning which got the day off to a shaky start.

Junior champion Jobe Sims

“The track was wet and muddy (but) after a small delay we got onto the track after a mammoth effort by the track crew led by Peter Thompson and some special help from Luke Redpath doing some track packing with his Wingless” the club posted.

“It was a huge effort by all our officials to make this such a well run event. TSKC would like to thank all these people giving up their Sunday for this event to take place.

“Another huge thanks goes to Adam from Alexander Mechanical for his Sponsorship of this years title was great to have him be in attendance on the day. Thanks to Anthony from TW Harmon Centre for providing food and drinks etc on the day and allowing us to hold our presentations in the centre on completion of all engine checks.

“As always we appreciate the mainlanders coming across the water to have a skid in Tassie. Thanks to all spectators that came out to witness some exciting racing, was great to see lots of people sitting on the bank supporting the karts.”

Next event is in Hobart on March 22 at AutoKlene Hobart Raceway.
