Karting Australia’s partnership with the Australian Grand Prix Corporation continues to provide karters, particularly kids, with money-can’t-buy experiences.
The country’s ASN has announced a couple of significant events for 2025.
Firstly, the top five male and female drivers in the Cadet 12 category at next month’s Junior Top Guns at Oakleigh will be invited to apply for an ‘exclusive opportunity’ at the 2025 Australian Grand Prix. From this pool, two will be selected to “experience the thrill of being part of the action”.
Secondly, the Australian Grand Prix ‘Race Week’ will commence with a special karting event at Todd Rd on Monday, March 10. This will be by invitation only and will feature drivers from select (as yet, unspecified) classes to showcase karting as a part of arguably Australian Motorsport’s biggest week of the year.
“The event will run into the evening and may include appearances from high-profile motorsport personalities” a KA press release stated. Further details and invitations will be distributed mid-January.
“Over the past decade, hundreds of young Karting Australia licence holders have benefited from this collaboration, including current McLaren Formula 1® driver Oscar Piastri, who participated as a ‘Grid Kid’ in 2015, and Alpine Formula 1® driver Jack Doohan, who completed a demonstration lap in 2014” KA continued.
“Thanks to the support of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, Karting Australia has been able to introduce karting to the (AGP) event attendees through a trackside information stand.”
The popular Grid Kids program involving young Karting Australia drivers will continue at the 2025 event. Applications will open in January.
