With the Australian Kart Championship done and dusted for 2024, Karting Australia has now revealed more information about the Summer Series for later this year: there will be six classes contesting the two events.

KA Press Release

Karting Australia is excited to announce the classes for the 2024 Summer Series presented by GoPro, set to take place at two premier venues later this year.

The first event will be hosted by the Newcastle Kart Racing Club from October 18-20, followed by the second event at the Go-Kart Club of Victoria in Melbourne on November 30-December 1.

The Summer Series will feature six classes: Cadet 12, KA3 Junior, KA3 Senior, TaG 125, KA2 and KZ2. Both events will run as two-day competitions on Saturday and Sunday, with Friday reserved for pit set-up only. No on-track action will take place on Friday.

The race format for both events will be unique, featuring time-certain Sprint and Feature races, incorporating selected reverse top ten grid races. This format is designed to further challenge the drivers as they further develop their racing craft.

“We’re thrilled to bring the Summer Series to a pair of historic venues in Australian karting and offer competitors an excellent opportunity to race in a highly competitive environment,” said Karting Australia CEO Kelvin O’Reilly.

“With the addition of priority entry into the 2025 Australian Kart Championship and the unique race format, we’re looking forward to providing a valuable incentive for drivers to participate in this year’s Summer Series.”

The Summer Series promises to be a highlight of the karting calendar, with top drivers from across the nation vying for glory and a head start on the 2025 season.

Participation in both rounds of the Summer Series presents a unique opportunity for drivers. In addition to the high-level of competition, all drivers who compete in both rounds of the Summer Series will receive priority entry into the 2025 Australian Kart Championship. Priority entry is also extended to any driver who competed in all five rounds of the 2024 Australian Kart Championship, offering a streamlined pathway to next year’s prestigious national series.

Supplementary Regulations for the opening event will be available next week with entries opening shortly thereafter.
