Maureen Calls Time

Popular Life Member and Queensland karting stalwart Maureen Capri announced yesterday she is stepping away from her roles with the Ipswich Kart Club.

The club revealed the news in a special appreciation statement.

“Sadly, after a very special phone call with her this morning, I can announce that Maureen after years and years of dedicated and unwavering service to both our sport and especially IKC, has officially stepped down from her Committee role as Membership Officer of Ipswich Kart Club” the IKD President posted.

“As a lot of you would know… Maureen has been fighting some health issues of late. She has taken some much deserved time to deal with her battles and the Club has of course, supported her through this.

“It was amazing to see her and catch up at our States event a couple of weekends back.

“Celebrating her 84th birthday next week, understandably it’s time and we truly appreciate everything she has done for Karting.

“We all love you Maureen and don’t you dare be a stranger at ‘YOUR’ Club.”

Jody Zaal has been announced as the new Membership Officer. All contact details and process remain the same.

Maureen’s husband Alf, passed away in 2021. The couple received the Spirit of Speed Volunteer of the Year Award at the Motorsport Australia Hall of Fame Dinner in 2019.
