Canberra’s very own Lazarus Añonuevo has locked out the Karting NSW State Titles (ACT and NSW) for 2024!
On the weekend, Lazarus raced at the Wagga & District Kart Racing Club with some of the best in the country fighting to win the prestigious Blue Plate only awarded to State Champions. With only two Blue Plates available per class in the league, the event attracts some of the best drivers in the country!
With a tremendous amount of focus and determination, Lazarus qualified pole and won every single heat except for H3 coming in at P2 a tenth of a second behind the heat winner.
He started P1 in the final and after some close racing with his fellow drivers, he crossed the finish line taking home his second Blue Plate in 30 days apart, after winning the ACT Titles last month.
This makes Lazarus one of the few drivers in history who have been able to lock out a Blue Plate in their racing class and he has achieved this for the KNSW Novice Class.
Lazarus was re-signed by DR Kart Racing Australia and Elite Driver Academy for the 2024 racing season after a strong 2023 Season becoming the Canberra Kart Racing Club Novice Champion, Runner Up in the Southern Stars Series and Runner Up in last year’s ACT Titles.
Lazarus is a 9 year old with huge racing dreams and his goal is to follow in the footsteps of the many amazing Australian drivers that have made it to the Formula Racing Series and eventually win a World Championship for Australia! He also hopes to inspire more young kids to join this amazing sport and follow their dreams as he was inspired by many drivers he now proudly calls his ‘track big brothers and sisters’.
Lazarus would like to thank all his family, friends, team, sponsors and supporters for their on-going support and dedicates his second blue plate to all of them.
