Scott Howard finished second in the DD2 Masters class at the first round of the Rotax Max Challenge Asia Trophy on Sunday.
The Queenslander had been leading the final at the Sepang International Karting Circuit before contact with the eventual winner dropped him to second.
Howard won the pre-final from grid three having earlier set fastest lap in each of the heat races.
However, he had experienced engine issues at the start of the event.
“Day one was a rough start with the dreaded engine cut out in qualifying” he posted on social media. “But JT and Richard fixed it up for racing which saw us come through to second in heat one.”
