4SS Boosts Gippsland Race Day

A field of 4SS karters boosted the numbers at the Gippsland Go Kart Club’s October race day, which was ironic considering numbers were down due to Karting Victoria protecting a 4SS meeting.

A late date change was forced upon the club (and several other clubs, it should be said) due to KV not allowing already scheduled events to take place the same weekend as the 4SS State Titles on October 29.

Having raced at Oakleigh’s twilight meeting the previous evening, five 4SS drivers fronted at Morwell to make history and contest the first official four-stroke races to take place at the venue.

Jonathan Hutchins leads a gaggle of 4SS. Other than hire karts in the late 80s/early 90s, this was the first proper 4-stroke racing to ever take place at Tramway Park Raceway (pic – Steve Dansie)
