Karting’s First Owner Manual?

Is this the first owner’s manual in karting? Back in 1988, Drew Price Engineering (DPE) released its most successful chassis to date, the iconic Demon X8.

These karts, which were available in either red or black, came with a printed 8-page owner’s manual to assist drivers with set up and maintenance of their machine.

The publication gave karters base settings to use for both ‘SL’ tyres (the harder compound longer-life rubber used at the time) and ‘Open’ tyres (softer compound used in the high performance classes).
