Vic Retro Championships

from Kev ‘The Noise’ Davies

Well, the sun hasn’t really set on the DPE Kart Superstore RKA Victorian Championships as it didn’t really come out!

The cold and wet didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits at Geelong last weekend. Racing at the highest level in the retro world was once again fantastic; the machinery presented was superb, the racing on track fast & exciting with the added complication of wet – then damp – then dry – and sometimes all in one race!!

We could not leave this write up without a few special mentions. Reif Corbett first, who, with a couple of other drivers, took what in hindsight looked a great gamble opting for slicks on a greasy track for the 15-lap F100 Light final. He caught the early leaders of the race after only a few laps as the slicks came good and wets struggled on a rapidly drying track. But then on lap 10 the heavens opened and that 13 second lead disappeared in 2 laps as Kenton Ferguson blasted past to take the win.

Another thrilling final saw Jason Pringle take the win in F100 Heavy and running a close second – he’s bad & he’s back – Greg Ritter! Third went to Aaron Jackson.

Plenty of product up for grabs from DPE and the other RKA sponsors
