Klarich the Lead Local at AKC WA

Local Western Australian driver Jake Klarich has led the way at Round Two of the 2023 SP Tools Australian Kart Championship presented by Castrol EDGE.

Klarich, a four-time round winner, claimed a trio of victories in the heats of elite KZ2 category on Saturday aboard his Parolin Kart at the Wanneroo International Kartway.

After qualifying in pole position, Klarich was joined at the front of the field throughout the day by fellow West Aussies Sam Dicker and the Guest brothers – Dylan and Sebastian.

In the top-level Junior category – KA2 – it was Max Walton who was the pack leader.  The Queenslander was undefeated in the heats throughout the day.  Local driver Toby Maiolo pressured Walton in the final heat, while Brodie Norris also showed his intentions with some strong speed throughout the day aboard his Arrow kart.

Also impressive aboard the Australian-made Arrow kart was Keegan Fraser.  The Queenslander was undefeated throughout the day in KA3 Senior class.

Western Australian Thomas Sparkes set the pace in the 70-strong field of TaG 125 drivers.

Victorian Pip Casabene, William Thompson and round one winner Darcy Heyne led the way in KA3 Junior while Cruz Kelly and Jay Kostecki shared the Cadet 9 victories.

Reigning Champion Jace Matthews, Victorian Brad Jenner, Toby Spinks and local veteran Kip Foster were amongst the leaders in the X30 class.

Cadet 12 saw a victories shared amongst multiple drivers with no clear favourite for Sunday’s finals.

The racing continues today with the final round of heat races from 8am and finals from midday.

The Wanneroo International Kartway is located on Wattle Avenue, Neerabup. Admission is free for spectators.
