Bundy’s Dash-4-Cash

from Kev ‘The Noise’ Davies

What a weekend! I was lucky enough to get asked by Paul Buddh Bailey of Wynnum Haulage Motorsport’s team to commentate the second days action from the WESSEL Petroleum Dash 4 Cash at Bundaberg Kart Club.

This was preceded by practice, qualifying and three x 6-lap sprint races on Saturday which were hotly contested by all 60 competitors. For day two, competitors raced a 10-lap heat four plus a 12-lap final.

Again, plenty of top performances, such as that from Supercars driver Todd Hazelwood, who having qualified quickest and won all the TaG Light heats up to the final, was at last shown to be human after all with James Litzow just beating him to the line.

Todd Hazelwood #3 showed he can still race a kart, here going head-to-head with James Litzow

Todd still won the class overall and gave us a fabulous interview with some great tips for young karters regarding pathways from karts to cars (see below).

In the rest of the days racing, Ky Burke was once again dominant in the KA3 Junior class. Luke Thomas travelled from Brisbane to race TaG Restricted Medium and the win was his reward. The Wynnum Haulage Motorsport’s team brought 10 drivers up from Brisbane and one of their entries “Elliot Thompson” grabbed a win in 4SS Senior Medium. Another member of the team, Georgia Yeadon, was also successful taking the win in 4SS Junior.

Elliot Thompson scored a comfortable victory in 4SS Senior Medium

Another local was victorious in the Cadet 12 class, that being Caylen Burke who is definitely following in his older brother’s footsteps.

A great end to the day was the on-track battle we all witnessed between WHM’s drivers Chicago Bailey & Wynter Ramsey – both girls run in the 4SS Cadet class and it’s so good see absolute beginners racing each other in what would have been a nerve wracking experience on track. Eventual winner on the day was young Chicago Bailey and both girls are pictured below with a new hero of theirs, Todd!
