from Kev ‘The Noise’ Davies
Another fantastic action packed day/night race meeting was held at The Thunderdome on the weekend, home of Ipswich City Dirt Kart Club. Once again there was a great turn out with 98 drivers fronting for round 3 of the Four and Two Stoke Championships in perfect conditions.

And perfect conditions lately brings on a few hot laps in a kart for The Noise! This time it was the Rotax DD2 owned by ‘Quick Nic’ McDowell. What a thrill it was to get a few laps around the Thunderdome before racing got under way!

This round saw Easter raffles drawn and even junior driving training. But the highlight came mid way through the night when the Easter Bunny made an appearance (actually, it was a hare that ran across the track!).

There was some really competitive racing at this round. Quick Nic McDowell showed his pace but a detached wheel in heat 4 cost him dearly. The ever present Brad Young got the win in that one, just ahead of Per Hansen.

Gordy Yarrow got his first win in Rookies with some great driving. The 125cc class saw spectacular racing with the joint winners tied on points after having a great battle all day. Our very own Gizzy – Jason Gislingham – and the Kodac Kartsport entry of Kacey Odger awarded joint winners and well deserving of the shared top spot.

Next event is the Test-N-Tune on April 15 followed by another Test-N-Tune on May 6.
