from Kev “The Noise” Davies
The Ipswich City Dirt Kart Club broke another milestone on Saturday when round 2 of the club’s 2023 series went over the 100 entry mark. The new club day race record is now set at 108.
The Noise reports it was an unbelievable day/night race meeting that got underway a little after 1pm. The Modified 2-stroke & 4-stroke classes were a crowd favourite, reaching 115kph down the Gartside main straight.
The junior classes had some magnificent races and as usual the 125cc two-strokes had a packed grid & very close races.
“As if it couldn’t get any better, Mad Mike Widdett (pro drift racer) came for a look” Davies said. “He joined me as co-commentator in the middle for a heat race and then during an interview proceeded to tell us all about his new found love of dirt kart racing in a DD2!”
Next event at Ipswich City Dirt Karts is a Test-N-Tune day on March 25.
